BRF Episode 29: “Moon”
Guess what, guys! The moon’s gravitational pull is at its strongest during the New Moon and Full Moon. And you won’t believe what day today is - it’s a new moon. And we, the simple creatures at Barely Researched Facts, have chosen Moon as the word for this episode. Your high expectations have been met with super topical content; you’re welcome. Though if your high expectations included us covering in some part a certain set of books and movies that the words “New Moon” associate with highly, you’ll be sadly disappointed - or thoroughly pleased!
We started off strong. Something that’s on everyone’s mind is the humble werewolf. And we’re not different. Werewolves and their unfortunate monthlies had us super interested and we’re not the only ones. Ragini dove into the legends of werewolves and where they originated and then brought up her research on someone else’s research on the possibilities of lunar travel for werewolves. The internet theory - super well-researched we might add - went deep into the composition of lunar atmosphere, its dark side, its light side and the wholly captivating mystery of what a werewolf would look like in a spacesuit.
We then discussed something Shar had never heard of before. Answer us this: if it looks like a cult, smells like a cult and has leader that are cult’y’ does it necessarily mean it is a cult? Shar is sure, but what’s your take on it? We talk about The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, also called The Unification Church and its members are not so affectionately called Moonies. In fact, the church and its connections to the ruling party in Japan is in the news recently after the assassination of Shinzo Abe. Who knew BRF could be leading the charge on bringing up poignant facts related to very current events! Anyhoo, it’s definitely a cult and you need to get a load of these guys and the shenanigans they’ve been up to! From funding arms manufacturing to owning and steering the messages of a major news organisation to the oldie but the goodie - ruining people’s lives!
And then we brought it all back to true BRF-style content - mooning! The gift and curse of the bare posterior should not be underestimated. No, not at all folks. Find out exactly why in the episode (hint: there’s rioting and deaths). And find out exactly HOW, also in the episode!
And then in a final attempt to lighten the mood - Shar and Ragini discuss how the Moon is done with us humans’ rubbish and is drifting away in an undramatic, totally subtle “hope they don’t notice” way. Except we did. And we think it’s about time we panic about it.
As always, the episode has all the juicy bits and we’d love your opinions on them. Leave us your comments on instagram or leave us a rating and a review and we’ll lap it up like the mongers of attention that we are!
Enjoy!
