BRF Episode 16: “Fire”
This episode was a listener suggested word and we were so happy to do it!
We started off with a bang - a story about the history of a famous catch phrase - whose owner shall remain unnamed and unthanked for its origin if not for its popularity anyway! We go into the history of the phrase “You are fired!” and surprisingly ended up talkikng about IBM. Now that’s a journey!
We then very obviously transitioned into the great Indian epic - the Mahabharata - into one of it’s lesser known stories about the mere mortal issues that great gods must face sometimes! Talking about fire made us think about the X-Men - because no explanation required. After a brief moment of expressing fear of creepy three year olds, Ragini told us the interesting story of one in particular to keep us just the right amount of sleepless.
Dragons! A refrain to say more often in our episodes echoes through this episode in Shar’s explanation of the science behind the very real fire breathing abilities of these very real creatures. We go into what would work best and what would make fiery farts - which are amusing but hardly the weapon of choice for any serious dragon.
We also talked about the unfortunate but interesting phenomenon of people bursting into flame - not the blasphemous kind. not the vampire kind and not the kind of incident you’d fear would happen on that one occassion you take a flaming shot. Just listen to the episode for a better explanation!
And lastly, we had room for some space! Some fire in space, that is. Ragini artfully explains how that works. Find out more in the episode!
Enjoy!
